Field Test: What It’s Like to Carry a Trayvax Wallet for a Month
For this Trayvax wallet review, I wore a Trayvax wallet every day for a month. Here are my impressions. After several weeks of use, the Trayvax wallet shows its durability and ability to withstand the demands of everyday use.
Although the leather straps were beginning to show signs of wear, they still remained intact and functional at the end of my Trayvax wallet review. Trayvax offers the option to replace or customize the leather straps, allowing you to refresh the look of your wallet or personalize it as you like. When you visit the Trayvax website, you can explore a variety of leather strap options that will suit your style.
The metal frame of the wallet is remarkably resistant to scratches and scuffs. Despite the fact that I stored it alongside my keys and a pocket knife, the metal frame has not shown any scratches. This proves the high-quality construction of the Trayvax wallet, which allows you to enjoy its functionality and style for years to come.
What we would change
When you get your Trayvax wallet, the one area that you will have to make adjustments to immediately is the straps. Although the Trayvax wallet is designed to securely hold your cards and cash, you might find that the straps are either too loose or too tight for your liking. Throughout my Trayvax wallet review, I could never get the straps just right.
To address this, an adjustable strap mechanism would be more preferable. This would allow you to easily tighten and loosen the straps to ensure a perfect fit for the items in the wallet.
Another thing that we would change is the clasp post. Currently, the clasp post provides a reliable closure mechanism for the wallet. However, the post is too stiff, which makes it slightly difficult to open or close the wallet.
But by introducing a more user-friendly clasp post, like one that has a slightly larger grip or smoother closure mechanism, the overall usability of the wallet would be significantly improved.

Unlike other Trayvax wallets, the Explorer wallet is metal-free, eliminating any concerns about setting off metal detectors. Instead, it features two credit card slots capable of holding up to 12 cards. Each slot is equipped with a convenient window, allowing for easy identification of your top cards.
The absence of a metal frame makes the Trayvax Explorer wallet incredibly lightweight, weighing just over 2.5 ounces and having dimensions of 5.5″ x 4.25″ x 2.2″. You’ll hardly notice it in your pocket or bag, ensuring maximum comfort during your travels.
On the left side of the wallet, you’ll find the cardholders, while the right side features a dedicated sleeve for your passport and boarding pass. With everything you need conveniently organized, accessing your essentials at the airport becomes a breeze. Additionally, you can slip some cash into any of the slots for added convenience.
Trayvax Ascent
The Trayvax Ascent wallet stands out as the slimmest wallet in its lineup. If you’re seeking a wallet that effortlessly fits into the smallest spaces, this is the perfect choice.
It measures 3.8″ x 2.75″ x 0.3″ and weighs 3 ounces, making it an extremely compact and lightweight choice. Although it is lighter than most wallets, it still retains a stainless steel frame. The Ascent is made from hand-stitched top-grain leather, and you can choose from four different leather colors.
Designed to hold up to seven cards and five bills, the Ascent wallet features an ID window on the front. There is a nylon pull tab that provides effortless access to your cards, while the cash slot on the back ensures your bills stay secure when retrieving your cards. You also get an attachment point for clipping it to any other carabiner you have. While the RFID protection of the Ascent guarantees the electronic safety of your belongings.
Trayvax Axis
The Trayvax Axis is designed for those who want a raw and rugged wallet to fit seamlessly into their everyday carry gear. This wallet ditches the stylish leather found on other Trayvax wallets and instead features two stainless steel plates to securely hold your belongings. This wallet is available in various colors.
However, it makes use of the bi-fold action like in traditional wallets, where you can actually unfold it and get two compartments. On the right side, there is a money clip that lets you carry about eight bills. There is also a piece of nylon on the back to prevent the bills from falling out. On the left side, there is an adjustable card strap that can hold approximately four cards.
This minimalist design may be a bit disappointing if you require a wallet with a higher card capacity since the Explorer can take up to 12 cards. But it is understandable, seeing that it has dimensions of 4.15″ x 2.5″ x 0.5″ and weighs around 4 ounces. On the bright side, you get a slot to hold change or a key, a lanyard made from parachute cord, RFID protection, and an attachment point for the carabiner.
Trayvax Element
The Trayvax Element is a wallet that effortlessly combines style and functionality. Crafted with top-grain, oil-tanned leather and a stainless steel frame, this wallet is built to last. With eight color combinations to choose from, you can customize your Trayvax Element wallet to suit your personal style.
Despite measuring 4.5″ x 2.8″ x 0.5″ and weighing 5 ounces, the Element can hold 3–10 cards, including your ID, driver’s license, and credit cards. Its compact size allows it to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand or the front pocket of your jacket. Or, you can attach it to your backpack using the built-in attachment point for quick and easy access.
The Element comes with a convenient money clip on the back, which can secure approximately five bills. While it may not accommodate a large number of bills, it’s perfect for those who prefer carrying larger denominations. It also features an integrated bottle opener and RFID protection to safeguard your cards against high-tech thieves.
Trayvax Contour
The Trayvax Contour combines the classic appeal of leather with the durability of stainless steel. However, it’s important to note that this premium design comes with a higher price tag. The unique and eye-catching design of the Contour allows it to stand out even among other Trayvax wallets.
In terms of features, the Trayvax Contour wallet provides RFID protection to keep your cards safe, and it even includes a convenient bottle opener and a carabiner attachment point. With a capacity to hold up to 13 cards and 10 bills, it has just the right amount of space for your everyday needs.
The Contour also comes with an adjustable leather clasp, which you can tighten or loosen with a Torx screwdriver. This allows you to customize the wallet’s tightness based on the number of cards and bills you want to carry, so you can be sure that nothing will fall out.
Despite its impressive functionality, the Contour wallet has a dimension of 3.8″ x 2.4″ x 0.5″ and weighs roughly 4 ounces, which means it can easily fit into any pocket. It also has a wide range of color combinations, so you can make your choice from seven different combinations for metal and leather.
Trayvax Armored Summit
If you’re a fan of minimalist EDC gear, the Trayvax Armored Summit wallet is the perfect wallet for you. This wallet features two armored steel plates to provide exceptional RFID protection and a nylon webbing to securely hold the plates and everything in between.
With a dimension of 3.75″ x 2.35″ x 0.375″ and a weight of 3.36 ounces, the Armored Summit is one of the smallest and lightest wallets in the Trayvax lineup. This is partly because it is only made of a single strap of nylon webbing and a metal plate made of stainless steel. While there are five color options available for the nylon strap, please note that the steel plate color remains the same.
This wallet is straightforward and no-nonsense. It offers RFID protection as its primary feature, without much else. There is a bottle opener and an attachment point for added convenience. It can hold up to 8 cards and 5 bills, which is sufficient for everyday use. It also offers an ID window for identification purposes.
Trayvax Summit Notebook
The Trayvax Summit Notebook is the ideal wallet for those who want to carry a multitude of items with them at all times. It is basically a combination of the regular Summit wallet and a leather journal to offer you both functionality and style. So you can still hold up to 8 cards and 5 bills while now enjoying an exterior made of oiled latigo leather like the Explorer.
The Summit Notebook wallet comes with an all-weather pocket notebook that allows you to write even in the rain and a branded pen from Trayvax that is conveniently housed in its own compartment within the crease of the wallet.
This wallet is also RFID-resistant, and although it features an attachment point for a carabiner, it doesn’t have a bottle opener, which may be a downside for some.

In all our gear reviews, we like to provide some alternatives, and this Trayvax wallet review is no different. Let’s take a look at some alternatives in this Trayvax wallet review.
Ridge Wallet
When comparing the Trayvax vs Ridge wallet, one thing to note is that they both have minimalist designs and are extremely durable. But unlike the Trayvax wallets, Ridge is built with rugged materials like military-grade aluminum, titanium, carbon fiber, and laser-engraved Damascus stainless steel, so it can withstand wear and tear.
The Ridge wallet can hold up to 12 cards, and there is a finger notch at the bottom that you can use to easily slide your cards out. It also comes fitted with an elastic band that prevents the cards from falling out.
You can carry cash around with the Ridge wallet by using either the money clip or cash strap. Like the Trayvax wallets, the Ridge wallet has RFID-blocking capability. Although it is pricier than some of the Trayvax wallet models, its solid construction makes it worth the investment.

Although it has a very compact profile, the Axwell wallet can take up to 12 cards. This is due to its innovative plate system, which allows you to easily stack the cards until they reach their limit. If you want to carry a bit of cash, there is an option to use either a cash strap or a money clip. In addition, this wallet features RFID protection.
